PitAND offers several continuing education and social events throughout the year to network with local Registered Dietitians, Dietetic Technicians, Registered and students.

These events are no cost/minimal cost or are provided at a discount for members.

Public Policy 101

As an expert in food, nutrition, and health, our lawmakers need to hear from us and know we are available to be a resource for them. Being an advocate for policy that affects our profession is one of the most important ways we can make a difference. 

The Academy has set up information and resources designed to help nutrition professional understand how policy is formed by the federal government.

Public Policy Workshop

Connect with nearly 500 of your nutrition and dietetics "activist" colleagues at the Academy's Public Policy Workshop from June 25-26 in 2017 at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, D.C. 

This annual food and nutrition advocacy summit is where you get up to date on current issues, and learn how to become the voice of nutrition that Congress trusts. Whether you are new to policy and advocacy or a seasoned professional, there is something for everyone at PPW.

What to expect

PPW will focus on critical policies that impact the health of the nation and the dietetics profession. Attendees will receive top-notch leadership and communications training that will benefit them during the conference and beyond.

At the end of PPW, participants put their knowledge into action when they visit Capitol Hill and meet with members of Congress. 

Additionally, attendees help recognize those in Congress who have exhibited outstanding service and support for nutrition and related issues as the member(s) is presented with the Public Policy Leadership Award. PPW is a complete interactive, educational experience.

What is a PAC?

PAND PAC is the political action committee for the Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The PAC is made up of RDN professionals that represent different regions of Pennsylvania.

They strive to channel contributions to election campaigns of worthy political candidates and political committees, who have demonstrated interest and understanding in the views and goals of the committee and the Academy.
